My name is Gina Salvatore (she/her) and I am a fiber artist originally from and based in Miami. My work is deeply rooted in the layered textures of culture and memory.

Using the traditional techniques of crochet, weaving, and quilting, I stitch together our personal and collective histories—threads passed down through generations, reimagined through my hands.

Fiber is a language. It allows for the exploration of the complexities of identity and ancestry with both reverence and rebellion.

In each loop and knot, I try to honor the women in my family by crafting pieces reflective of their survival, beauty, and resilience.

My practice is an homage to their quiet labor and an effort to elevate those domestic traditions into vibrant visual narratives.

Living in Miami, I am constantly inspired by the city’s saturated colors, tropical rhythms, and cultural collisions. My work reflects this incredible city: joyful, chaotic, layered, and unapologetically bold.

I incorporate unexpected materials, playful shapes, and a sense of whimsy that invites viewers to touch, laugh, and remember.

Fiber isn’t just a craft, its a tool I utilize to express my voice and build bridges between past and present, the personal and the political, the sacred and the silly.

Through my art, I hope to hold space for stories and to show that heritage, like fiber, is strongest when it is interwoven.

Integrating the ancestral practice of fiber work with contemporary themes and materials, my intention is to provoke reflection and dialogue.

My pieces invite viewers to engage with themes unique to this beautiful, diasporic experience that is Miami.

Each piece is a testament to the power of craft- as well as the power of materials- as tools for storytelling and advocacy, bridging the gap between artistry and activism and inspiring empathy and awareness.
